The Land Downunder

Posted on January 17, 2010

I love Australia. I love the intensity of the sunlight, the wild, menacing oceans and the white-hot sand. I love the eucalyptus-scented mountains, the idling, granite-bound rivers and the vast, red interior.

Australia is a land of courage and pride and ‘no worries’; a nation blessed with free healthcare, public education and a social conscience.

In the week leading up to Australia Day on Tuesday 26th January, I am asking you to share what it is you love about this big island most of us call home.

By posting your favourite things about Australia at the bottom of this post, you will go in the running to win an Oz Crawl set, valued at $59.95 – www.ozcrawl.com.au, thanks to the lovely Michelle Bartolo at Affinity PR.Ozcrawl-long

My friends and I reviewed this game and it is very funny, extremely ocker and sure to have everyone busting out their best Aussie nickname-generating skills.

So, dear SheGoesicans, what do you love about Australia? Post away for your chance to win …

  1. Oz: Its people, language, wide open spaces, Great Barrier Reef (and of course, all the furry marsupials).

  2. i love the weather. i went to the beach in sydney last weekend for the first time in ages and it was just fantastic, blue skies, warm sand, like something from a postcard – it reminded me of how good we have it here, even if sometimes we forget.

  3. I love being Australian. I get a great sense of pride when I am overseas telling people I am an Aussie.
Because of the size of ‘us’, there are so many things that define us from the rest of the world. The red earth. The blue skies and water. The bizarro animals. The craziness in both planned and unplanned cities and towns.
But most of all I love that we can stop and take the time to appreciate these things- usually with a beer in hand and a massive grin on our faces! No one chucks an ‘I love life’ party like and Aussie!
Cheers to being ‘true blue’ ;)
