Happy Lei Day!

May 1st is a public holiday in the Hawai’ian Islands and a huge celebration of local culture; hula, ukeleles, slack key guitars, Aloha shirts and sunshine.Leis

You will find me freezing my sweet ass off outside the QVB from 8am – 10am handing out leis and asking people to enter the Lei Day competition at www.winhawaii.com.au

Come and say Hi. I will be the chick in the Hawai’ian shirt with 1000 leis.

It would be awesome if you entered, mostly to make me look good to my boss, but you may also win a trip for two to Hawai’i. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

So tell me, hoalohas (friends), what do you love about Hawai’í?

I don’t know yet! Tell you soon though 🙂

Where do you get real leis from??

You can buy them in Honolulu at the airport and also at lots of shopping malls around Waikiki. However, in Australia, you would need to get a florist to make them for you (or make them yourself – there are tutorials on Youtube – le fun!).
