Let’s all drink Champagne in a Cook Islands paradise

drink-champagne-in-a-cook-islands-paradiseI am obsessed with three things at the moment: 1) Words with Friends, 2) Twitter, 3) the Cook Islands.

The First Husband and I are planning a trip to the Cook Islands because Air New Zealand are launching direct flights from Sydney to Rarotonga in July, meaning that it only takes 6 hours to get there (versus travelling via Auckland which takes around 16 hours if the booking engine is to be believed).

I now have a specially tailored daydream on high rotation; riding a scooter around Rarotonga, snorkelling, fire-walking with tattooed islanders and being made the Princess of their tribe, eating tropical fruit in some sort of white linen ensemble (notwithstanding the fact that I don’t own anything made of linen because it needs ironing). Like I said, daydream.

When a press release for a luxury resort in Rarotonga landed on my desk this week, I decided to find out if I could wangle a special deal because hey, I am a cheapskate with delusions of editorial grandeur.

My haggling has paid off because the kind souls at Rumours in Rarotonga have offered to throw in a bottle of Champagne for anyone that books using the code SHEGOESCHAMPERS.

They had me at ‘free Champagne’.

Here are the 5 night deals (valid for travel between May 1 – Dec 31, 2011):

Beachside villa with private pool – AU$3,200

Beachfront villa with private pool and spa pool – AU$4,500

I don’t care if I have to sell my hair to a wig maker. I AM GOING TO THE COOK ISLANDS. Whose with me? Bald ladies need friends too …

  1. Oh man, I would love that! (Apart from the scooter aspect – gravel rash is not a great holiday look for me.) That would be sooo pretty… and sooo non-wintery, which is what I’m currently dreaming about!

  2. Mmm, can I sneak into your daydream? I promise to keep quiet as an island mouse and lap up any spilled champagne…Thanks for sharing your own second life, Em.

  3. Sure hope you don’t have to sell your hair, Em. It is beautiful, as is your daydream.

  4. Em, our mutual friend Fiona frolicked to the Cook Islands, went native and came back bald (but with a lot of tropical scarves)…..I see a trend here…
