Types of happy
There are lots of different kinds of happy. Here are some of mine:
- Getting enough sleep happy – floppy bodied, quiet-hearted contentment
- Full belly happy – blood glucose glow
- Post-walk happy – sweaty detoxification meets endorphins
- Gig happy – half drunk and collectively in awe of talent
- Job well done happy – smug waves of competence and praise-basking
- Doing something selfless happy – internal tick of approval on lifepath of goodness
- Just bought a pretty thing happy – anticipatory glee at hope of looking attractive
- Just booked holiday happy – SQUEEEEEEEEEE! I’M GOING AWAY SOMEWHERE I’VE NEVER BEEN AND OH MY GOD THERE WILL BE FOOD THERE AND MAYBE I CAN GO SWIMMING?
- Flowers, fruit and veggies happy – my jonquils have opened, my tomatoes are ripe, my sweet peas are climbing
So many different kinds of happy. What are some of your favourites?
Love it, Em. My fav is Post-surf salty happy – you’ve seen me, I’m like a puppy, all frisky and playful bubbly with sea-joy. Even when the waves aren’t so good (like this morning) there’s something about being in water, the ocean, that makes me feel glad to be alive. Love the Sitting in the winter sunshine happy too – so good to feel the goodness of the sun Simple things 🙂
I have two to add:
The infectious happy you catch from a friend who is over the moon about something.
Closeness happy. I am always happy laying in bed holding a lover. Senses on overload!
Understanding happy – that comes from learning something new and understanding a little more about how the world works.
Super Organised Smugness Happy – boring I know, but I confess I get a kick out of crossing off things on a to do list, paying bills and having a neat as a pin in tray…..x
Yes, all those kinds of happy plus weird happy… barging down barriers… the happy I get from burlesque and when my kind of strange makes someone smile… or even better… shows them they don’t need to conform… be it tats, hair, attitude, morals! Stray away from the mainstream… see how happy it makes you!
