The Bahamas

The Bahamas

For adventure-lovers, The Bahamas are perfect. The islands are situated in such a way that it looks like Indiana Jones or another adventurer came up with them in some late night snack induced dream. For centuries, wily adventurers have converged upon the 700 islands.

The Bahamas are real purdy

Easily one of the more popular activities in the Bahamas is hanging out on one of the numerous beaches while checking out the yachts cruising in the Bahamas.  While for many this would be enough, I know this is a little too cliche, so let’s take a look at a few other options.

You could start out with a diving adventure at Andros’ blue holes and then follow that up with a sailing excursion to Abacos.  Then head over to Exumas and go kayaking the areas countless cays.  Want to feel what it’s like to be a pirate? Head over to Nassau and take in a pirate excursion.

There are numerous casinos in the area with none as big as the Atlantis Casino at Paradise Island. I point that one out over the others because it is actually a resort more so than a casino, complete with Spa, shopping, and even an 18-hole golf course.

With any adventure, there are drawbacks and with the Bahamas that tends to be high prices and indifferent service. While Paradise Island and Nassau are on the list of must-see areas, they are also among the biggest offenders for bad attitudes and overpricing.

One alternative would be to check out some of the ‘out islands’ now called the ‘family islands’.  These islands are more laidback and are a bit more home spun.  Prices there are still a bit high but you definitely will get more bang for your buck while receiving amazing service. Also, the crowds aren’t as large so you can enjoy your trip more.

The Bahamas have more to offer than just fun and sun. They are islands full of adventure and definitely a locale you should put on your bucket list.
